Kevin Regan Named Providence Bruins Man Of The Year
March 25, 2010 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Providence Bruins News Release
Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins, in their 18th season in the American Hockey League, announced today that goaltender Kevin Regan has been named the team's winner of the American Specialty/AHL Man of the Year award for his outstanding contributions to the Providence community during the 2009-10 season.
In just his second full professional season, Regan has cemented himself as a fixture in the Providence community through a partnership with Adoption Rhode Island and his voluntary involvement with several school organizations across the state. Regan, 25, can often be found associating himself with schools in the forms of speaking engagements, reading visits and fundraising endeavors. Education is significantly important to the four-year standout from the University of New Hampshire as he also has several family ties to educators at various levels.
On the ice, the native of Boston, Massachusetts, has appeared in 21 AHL games this season, compiling a record of 8-11-0. His 2.54 goals-against-average and.915 save percentage lead the P-Bruins. Regan also played six games for the ECHL's Reading Royals to start the season, going 2-3-1 with a 3.76 GAA and.896 save percentage.
In recognition of his efforts, Regan will be presented with an etched crystal trophy during an on-ice presentation prior to an upcoming P-Bruins home game.
Regan is now one of 29 finalists for the AHL's 2009-10 Yanick Dupre Memorial Award, honoring the overall American Specialty/AHL Man of the Year. The league award is named after the former Hershey Bears forward and 1995 AHL All-Star who died in 1997 at the age of 24, following a 16-month battle with leukemia. The winner of the Yanick Dupre Memorial Award will be announced by the AHL in the coming weeks.
Providence is back in action with two games this weekend, both at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. The P-Bruins host the Portland Pirates on Friday at 7:05 p.m. for Visor Night with visors free to the first 2,000 fans in attendance. After a rare Saturday off, Providence welcomes the Manchester Monarchs into The Dunk on Sunday at 4:05 p.m. for a Family Game. Fans can buy one ticket, hot dog and soda for one low price. To purchase 2009-10 Flex Tix or individual game tickets, please call the P-Bruins ticket office at (401) 273-5000 or log on to the team website at www.providencebruins.com.
