York Revolution News Release

(York, Pa.): Widely considered the greatest local pitcher of his generation, Susquehanna League star right-hander Shawn Hedrick has signed a professional contract to pitch for the York Revolution, it was announced today. He will make his Revolution debut on Wednesday night, starting for the Revs when they host the Newark Bears at Sovereign Bank Stadium at 7 p.m.

Hedrick went 10-1 for Red Lion of the Susquehanna League this summer, leading his club to a second straight regular season championship, in his second year with the team. He also started for the Susquehanna-Central League All-Star team that played a preseason exhibition game at Sovereign Bank Stadium against the Revolution on April 18. Hedrick fired two scoreless innings that day, striking out four while not allowing a hit.

Prior to joining Red Lion, the Dover High School product spent the previous 16 years dominating as the ace of the staff with the Central League's Dover club. Hedrick has won several league MVP awards, a Colonial Tournament MVP award, and won over 150 games with Dover, leading that club to six regular season championships during his career.

The 34-year-old, known for his pinpoint control and for possessing a good fastball, worked out in front of Revolution officials last week at Sovereign Bank Stadium, making an impression. His fastball has been clocked at 92 mph on the stadium radar gun.

Without a doubt, it will be a big night on Wednesday at Sovereign Bank Stadium for the Revolution, and for local baseball. There will also be a Rally Towel giveaway to the first 2,000 fans, and free flu shots from the York-Adams County Immunization Coalition. It is also an Amtrak Wednesday where fans can enter a drawing for two free, round-trip tickets. There will also be a live, baby buffalo on-hand named "Matt Dryer", and a special on Buffalo Wings, and other Buffalo fun. The Big Hitters will perform Wednesday night as well.
