Winnipeg Blue Bombers News Release
WINNIPEG, MB - For the second time this season, Blue Bomber linebacker Joe Lobendahn has been named the Defensive Player of the Week.
Lobendahn recorded seven tackles in his team's 30-27 victory over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and also forced a key fumble that helped prevent a TiCat touchdown. Hamilton receiver Chris Williams hauled in a 64-yard catch in the opening minutes of the second half and raced towards the endzone before Lobendahn caught up to him and punched the ball out of the receiver's hands at the one-yard line. The ball was recovered by the Bombers in the endzone.
This is the seventh time a member of the Blue Bombers has been named Player of the Week this season and is also the third time Lobendahn has been honoured in his career.
