
Little Fans a Lot as Otters Move into First Place

(EVANSVILLE, INDIANA) - The Evansville Otters (45-28) received 8.0 scoreless innings from starting pitcher Connor Little and a 14-hit performance from their offense in a series-deciding 11-0 win over River City on Monday night.
The win moves Evansville into a tie with Washington for first place in the Frontier League East Division. The Otters lead the Wild Things by .003 percentage points.
Little, in his team debut, took a two-hitter in to the eighth inning for the win. He ended the night with eight strikeouts and only four hits allowed.
Evansville's offense started in the first with an RBI single from Jeremy Nowak before the team added two more runs in the third.
Using the lead to his advantage, Little retired 10 of 11 batters in a row at one point.
Up 5-0, outfielder Chris Sweeney hit a two run home run in the sixth. It was his 14th home run of the summer, tied for seventh most in Otters single season franchise history.
The Otters put the game away with five more runs in the seventh. Shayne Houck and Nowak hit back to back RBI singles. J.R. Higley tacked on an RBI single and catcher Jaime Del Valle increased the lead with a two-run single to right field. Del Valle, in his Otters debut, was 2-for-4 with two runs batted in.
Reliever Edgar Lopez threw a scoreless ninth inning to secure the win.
Nowak finished the game 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two runs batted in. Outfielder John Schultz reached base four times in the game and scored three times as well.
Evansville will now visit the Schaumburg Boomers for a three game series beginning on Tuesday night. First pitch is set for 6:30 pm CDT. The Otters will have RHP Trevor Walch (5-1, 2.63 ERA) on the mound. Schaumburg has not named a starter as of now.
The game will also be broadcast on WUEV 91.5 FM. Play by play announcer Mike Radomski will have the call beginning at 6:15 pm.
