ThunderBolts Shutout Grizzlies in Series Finale

SAUGET, Ill. - The Windy City ThunderBolts defeated the Gateway Grizzlies 3-0 Monday night in the series finale at GCS Ballpark.

The home shutout loss for Gateway (44-30) was their first since July 6, 2013. Gateway mustered only six hits, with just one extra base hit, while losing their second straight to remain a half game out of first place in the West Division.

Despite the loss, Gateway starting pitcher Tucker Jensen (7-3) tossed eight strong innings, allowing only three runs on nine hits.

Windy City (27-47) scored single runs in the fifth, seventh and ninth innings.

Michael Allen drove in a run on a single in the fifth, Daniel Aldrich picked up a seventh inning RBI single and Kyle Robinson hit his 12th home run of the season in the ninth.

The Grizzlies begin a four-game series with the Normal CornBelters on Tuesday night with a doubleheader. Game one begins at 4:00 with Tyler Thompson (3-2) making the start from the Corn Crib.
