
Lindsey Harding to carry torch, light flame at State Special Olympics Summer Games

WHAT: Minnesota Lynx point guard Lindsey Harding will carry the torch on the final leg of the Torch Run and light the flame that kicks off the Minnesota Special Olympics Summer Games.

WHEN: Thursday, June 21, 2007 Torch Run begins at 7:45 p.m.
Opening Ceremonies are from 6-8 p.m.
INFO: Lindsey will run the Final Leg during the Opening Ceremonies at the Special Olympic Summer Games.
Lindsey is the first professional athlete to ever take part in the Final Leg of the Torch Run. Lindsey has long been heavily involved with Special Olympics, working as a mentor and coach while she was a student at Duke University.
This year's Torch Run has included legs from Duluth, Moorhead, Sleepy Eye/New Ulm, and Rochester, among other locations.
More than 1,200 athletes from all over the world will participate in this year's Summer Games, which will take place from June 21-23 at Bierman Field on the University of Minnesota campus.
Special Olympians, family and friends are also invited to Friday's game between the Minnesota Lynx and Seattle Storm at Target Center at 7 p.m.
