SACRAMENTO, CALIF., June 21, 2007 - The WNBA's Western Conference leading Sacramento Monarchs will host the Eastern Conference leading Detroit Shock on Saturday, June 23, at 7:00 p.m., at ARCO Arena. This rematch of the 2006 WNBA Finals will be the final regular season game between these two teams, with the Shock winning the first game, 75-68, on May 19.
This will be a meeting of the defensive minds as Sacramento leads the WNBA in fewest points allowed, holding their opponents to just 67.0 points per game on average, while Detroit ranks third, allowing their opponents to score 71.7 points per outing.
The Shock leads the League in rebounds averaging 37.7 rebounds per game. On the flip side, Sacramento suffocates their opponents on the boards, allowing them to grab the fewest rebounds in the league (27.7). Additionally the Monarchs rank first in the WNBA, forcing opponents to 20.8 turnovers per game on average.
The June 23 game will also honor Women & Inspiration when Good Morning America Co-Host Robin Roberts will address the crowd at halftime. Immediately following the game, Roberts will be signing copies of her new book titled, "From the Heart: Seven Rules to Live By."
