Lincoln tops Sports, 10-3

The Lincoln Saltdogs banged out 13 hits on their way to a 10-3 victory over the Shreveport Sports in the final game of the three game series last night at Fair Grounds Field.

The Sports had taken a 3-0 lead in the first inning with Justin Humphries and Al Corbeil driving in the three runs. After that it was all Lincoln.

The Saltdogs got on the scoreboard with a solo home run by Josh Patton in the second inning off losing pitcher Eric Wikstrom (0-1). Lincoln tied the game at 3-3 with two runs in the fourth and took the lead for good with a three-run fifth inning. The Saltdogs put the game away with another three runs in the sixth as five Lincoln hitters had two hits.

Ben Fox pitched into the seventh inning to record his second win of the season without a loss as Lincoln goes to 6-1 on the season while the Sports drop to 2-4.

The Sports will open up a three-game series at home Friday against Pensacola at Fair Grounds Field. Game time will be 7:05 pm.
