Lincoln shuts out Bowie

BOWIE - Brad Lincoln picked up his first win of the season Thursday night as Altoona defeated Bowie 2-0 in the series finale at Prince George Stadium.

Lincoln (1-3) pitched a complete game, two hit, shutout, the first for any Curve pitcher this season.

Altoona scored the only runs of the game in the top in the second inning when outfielder Jason Delaney doubled in Jonel Pacheco and Pedro Lopez. Lopez finished the night 3-for-3.

Altoona (13-26) returns home Friday for a week long home stand starting with a five game series with Reading (AA - Philadelphia Phillies). Former Pittsburgh Pirate star and 1979 World Series champion John Candelaria will be at Blair County Ballpark for the series opener.

Altoona will have right hander Yoslan Herrera (2-0, 3.57) on the mound and Reading (19-18) will throw righty Mike Stutes (3-1, 3.72). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. with radio coverage beginning at 6:35 on ESPN Radio 1430, WVAM and the Curve Radio Network.

To kick off the team's five-game, four-day series against the Phillies, all students from kindergarten to college will receive $3 general admission and outfield reserve tickets and $4 grandstand tickets over the four-day holiday weekend (Friday through Monday). Students can fill out a ticket order form sent to their school, call in their order toll-free at 1-877-99-CURVE, or present a student ID at the window to take advantage of the offer.

All parents, teachers, administrators, staff and students from the Altoona Area school district can also enjoy $3 Memorial Day weekend tickets by filling out the AASD Family Day order form they received from the Curve last week. Those wishing to purchase the half-price grandstand tickets for the AASD may also order on the toll-free line, 1-877-99-CURVE.
