
Lights Out Second Quarter Gives Skyforce 105-93 Win Over Legends

Sioux Falls, SD - The Sioux Falls Skyforce defeated the Texas Legends 105-93 for the team's second straight victory on Tuesday night at the Sanford Pentagon.
The victory marked a season series sweep of the Legends (4-8) for Sioux Falls (8-6) and the second straight game (10th overall with a 9-1 record) that Sioux Falls has held an opponent to under 100 points.
Despite trailing by as many as nine points to start the game, Sioux Falls collected themselves and cut Texas' lead to 24-20 after the first quarter.
Behind 11 points from Mychal Mulder (19 points, six rebounds and a career-high six assists) and 55 percent shooting from the field (11-20 FGA), the Force took a 35-20 advantage in the second period, which pushed to a 55-44 lead at intermission.
The Legends went on a 9-0 run out of halftime and would eventually take a 68-67 lead to the 2:16 mark of the third quarter. The Skyforce ended the period on a 9-0 run of their own to command a 76-68 lead with just 12 minutes remaining.
Sioux Falls built as big as a 16-point lead in the final frame and held Texas to just 14.3 percent shooting from deep to secure the victory.
For the second straight game, the Force made their opponent give up 20-plus turnovers (25 points off 24 turnovers tonight).
Justin Champagnie led the Skyforce in scoring for the first time this season, with 20 points on 7-9 FGA, four rebounds and a plus-23 plus-minus off the bench.
Miami HEAT two-way player Jamal Cain had 14 points on 7-12 FGA and eight rebounds. Marcus Garrett added 14 points on 6-8 FGA and Jon Elmore had 10 points, seven rebounds, six assists and a game-high plus-29 plus-minus.
Tyler Dorsey led Texas with 15 points on 5-15 FGA, seven rebounds and four assists.
The Skyforce hosts the Birmingham Squadron (4-12) on Friday and Sunday, with tip-off on Friday slated for 7:00 PM CST. The Legends travel to face the Iowa Wolves on Feb. 9th at 7:00 PM CST.
