Lancaster Stormers News Release

LANCASTER, Pa. - This Saturday, September 11 at 7:00 p.m., the Lancaster Lightning (3-4) will host the Pittsburgh Colts (4-2), both of the North American Football League at Clipper Magazine Stadium. This will be the second time the Lightning will play at the stadium. The first game was played in 2006 vs. South Central Yard Dawgs based in Harrisburg. The Lightning pulled out the hard fought win with a dramatic field goal block in the final seconds to seal the victory.

There are many subplots to the upcoming game, including the return of the storied Pittsburgh Colts to the Lightning's schedule. The Colts have been part of the NAFL since 1979 and are a much-respected franchise on a national level. The last time the Colts came to Lancaster was 2003. The game was played at J.P. McCaskey High School and ended in a 6-0 loss after a very physical, defensive game. Earlier this year, the Lightning traveled to Pittsburgh for their second game of the season. Although a spirited game, the Colts capitalized on Lancaster Lightning mistakes, winning 26-0.

Kickoff for the game on Sept. 11 is at 7:00 p.m.; with gates opening at 6:00 p.m. Tickets are $10 at the gate, children four and under are free.

On September 11th the Lightning look to honor all those who sacrificed their lives in the attack on America nine years ago. Free entry will be admitted to all military, police, fire and EMT personnel with proper identification, as a thank you for their continued service to the community. As well the Lighting will grant free admission to all participants in Lancaster Recreation Commission's NFL Youth Flag Football jerseys, members of the Boys and Girls Club of America and all Youth Football and Cheerleading program participants with jersey, warm up, or program tee.

The evening will also feature Cancer Awareness Night. Come out and support a great cause by wearing pink. As always, the Lancaster Lightning will donate proceeds from the 2010 season to cancer research and awareness institutions and organizations.
