Sanford Mainers News Release

Bad weather threatened the Laconia area all day and it came slowly, but surely, forcing an early end to tonight s game against the Muskrats.

After being shut out against the North Adams SteepleCats, the Mainers drop their second game in a row to the Laconia Muskrats 6-4 in 5.1 innings.

The Muskrats grabbed ahold of the scoreboard first after Donny Duschinksy reached on a fielder s choice and later scored on an RBI single by John Polonius.

It didn t take long for the Mainers to answer, as they grabbed their first run in the top of the third. With runners on the corners after a fielder s choice, first baseman Anthony Hajjar singled to right, allowing short stop, Mark Weist to score the Mainers first run.

The Mainers would grab one more run in the fourth, but the game would quickly end up in the hands of the Muskrats after two towering homeruns - a solo shot by Danny Collins and a three-run blast by Polonius.

With the Muskrats leading 5-2, the Mainers would plate two more runs on a deep single off the wall in left field from second baseman Jose Torralba.

The Muskrats would be able to score one more run in the bottom half of the sixth, however, the inning would be cut short and later the game.

The Mainers will host the Muskrats tomorrow night in Sanford at Goodall Park. First pitch is set to be at 6:30pm. Jason Inghram is slated to take the hill for the Moose as they make their quest to capturing the first victory of the season.
