Lightning Recall Kucherov, Korobov from Syracuse

TAMPA BAY - The Tampa Bay Lightning have recalled forward Nikita Kucherov ( KOO-chuhr-awv ) and defenseman Dmitry Korobov from the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League today, vice president and general manager Steve Yzerman announced.

Kucherov, 20, has skated in 17 games with the Crunch this season, posting team-highs for both goals (13) and points (24). He ranks second in the AHL and first on Syracuse with six power-play tallies. The Moscow, Russia native leads all AHL rookies for goals and points. The 5-foot-11, 178-pound forward posted a nine-game point streak (nine goals, nine assists) from October 18 through November 8. Kucherov was named the CCM/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending November 3 when he recorded nine points (five goals, four assists) during a three-game week.

Korobov, 24, made his NHL debut with the Lightning against the Los Angeles Kings on November 19, recording one hit and 13:21 minutes of ice time. He was reassigned to the Crunch on November 20. The 6-foot-3, 235-pound defenseman has skated in 15 games with Syracuse this season, posting six assists and 15 penalty minutes. He ranks first on the Crunch with a plus-7 rating.

The Novopolotsk, Belarus native has appeared in 80 career AHL games, all with the Crunch, recording three goals and 28 points. Last season he ranked second in the AHL among rookies with a plus-20 rating. Korobov helped lead Syracuse to the 2013 Calder Cup Final, recording a goal and two points in 17 games.
