Lightning improve to 14-6

Marlon Parmer and Roger Powell combined to score more than half of the Lightning's total points in Sunday's 117-112 victory over the Albany Patroons.

The Lightning began 2006 with their sixth victory of the season over the Patroons, and improving their league best record to 14-6. Powell led the team with a season high 35 points while Parmer added 25 points, 7 rebounds, and a Lightning season high 13 assists as Rockford took 5.0-quarter points. The two starters combined to shoot 21 for 31 from the field and 18 for 23 from the free throw line in the game.

Parmer leads the CBA in free throws made with an average of 6.9 per game (137 total). He ranks second in free throws attempted at 9.0 per game (180 total) with Powell just behind at third with 7.9 per game (157 total).

The two additions to the Lightning roster this season are among the league leaders in several other statistical categories. Parmer is fourth in scoring at 22.3 points per game, third in assists with 7.4 per game, and tied with teammate Ronnie Fields for fourth in the league in steals at 1.9 per game. Powell leads the league in offensive rebounds with 3.6 per game while moving up to sixth in scoring with 21.4 points per game, and tied for tenth in the league with 7.4 rebounds per game.

The Lightning will take on the Michigan Mayhem for the fifth time this season on Tuesday, January 3, at the Rockford MetroCentre. Tip-off is set for 7:05 P.M. with the first 1,000 fans in attendance receiving a Rockford Lightning hat sponsored by WXRX.
