
CBA Announces Yakama's Paul Woolpert Coach of the Month for December

Boise, ID (January 2, 2006) - The Continental Basketball Association announced today that Yakama Sun Kings Head Coach Paul Woolpert was named the CBA Coach of the Month for the month of December. This marks the first this season Woolpert has been named Coach of the Month.
Woolpert, in his fourth full season as head coach of the Sun Kings, led Yakama to a franchise record tying eight-game winning streak from Dec. 2 through Dec. 20 and a franchise record four-game road winning streak from Dec. 6 through Dec. 13. For the month, Yakama had a 4.2 quarter-point average and a .750 winning pct. to push them into first place in the CBA Western Conference with an overall record of 12-6 (3.8 QP average). Six of their nine wins in the month of December were by eight points or more.
Yakama is second in the CBA in scoring (110.0 ppg.), second in 3-point field goal pct. (37.3 pct.), third in field goal pct. (48.0 pct.), and leads the league with just 14.7 turnovers per game.
Woolpert has a CBA career coaching record of 151-131 (.536 pct.) with three seasons of 30-plus wins, two as head man of the Sun Kings and one as head coach at Sioux Falls. He led the Sun Kings to the 2000 CBA Championship.
He is the son of Hall of Fame coach Phil Woolpert, who coached Bill Russell, K.C. Jones, and the University of San Francisco to an NCAA Championship in 1955 and again in 1956.
