Lightning finally lose

The Rockford Lightning lost for the first time in eighteen days on Thursday night to the Gary Steelheads 102-118. The loss snapped the Lightning's seven-game win streak and brings the team to a 12-6 record on the season. They remain in first place in the Eastern Conference and hold the CBA lead in total quarter points (76.5) and quarter point average (4.3).

Rockford had their lowest scoring quarter of the season to start out the game with just 16 points and were unable to fight back after trailing by 23 at the end of the first quarter.

Rookie forward Roger Powell led all scorers with a game high 31 points for the Lightning and tied Sidney Holmes for a team high of 8 rebounds.

Rockford welcomes the Chicago Bulls Bucket Boys to the MetroCentre tonight for a special halftime performance. The Bucket Boys are fan favorites for the Bulls, performing at many home games throughout their season. The Bulls even brought the young and exciting performers to Denver last season for the 2004-2005 NBA All-Star game.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7:05 P.M. (CST) against the Albany Patroons. The first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive a Cordell Henry poster sponsored by Holiday Inn Express, Rockford Register Star, 11th Street Express Printing, Hampton Properties, and Rockford Orthopedic Associates.
