
Former CBA MVP Signs with NBA's Rockets

Boise, ID (December 29, 2005) - Josh Davis of the Idaho Stampede earned his second NBA call-up of the 2005-06 season today, Dec. 29, as Houston Rockets General Manager Carroll Dawson announced the signing of the Wyoming product. Davis, who signed with Idaho on Dec. 2 and was called up by the Milwaukee Bucks on Dec. 5, has appeared in three games this season for the Stampede, averaging 17.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 2.3 assists, while shooting 47.4 pct. from the field and 40.0 pct. from behind the 3-point arc.
The call-up marks the fourth this season for the Continental Basketball Association, which is celebrating its 60th anniversary season. In addition to Davis' two call-ups, Michigan Mayhem's Darrick Martin was called-up on Nov. 16 by Toronto and Sioux Falls Skyforce rookie Stephen Graham was called up by Houston on Dec. 11. The Rockets currently have six former CBA players on its roster, including Rafer Alston, Lonny Baxter, Moochie Norris, Stephen Graham and David Wesley.
Davis began his professional career oversees playing in Italy in 2002-03. In 2003 Davis made his CBA debut with the Stampede, earning the league's Most Valuable Player, Newcomer of the Year and All-League First Team honors while averaging 18.7 points and 9.6 rebounds in 40 games. Davis went on to see action with the Atlanta Hawks (2003-04), Philadelphia 76ers (2004-05) and Milwaukee Bucks (2005-06), posting career NBA averages of 2.5 points and 1.7 rebounds in 50 games played.
The 6-foot-8, 235-pound forward originally signed with Milwaukee on Oct. 2, 2005, and appeared in one game (at New Jersey on Nov. 2), before being waived on Nov. 24.
