Northwest Arkansas Naturals News Release
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - Naturals' first baseman, Alex Liddi clubbed two home runs and drove in three; but the Hooks scored runs in each of the first seven innings to complete the sweep of Northwest Arkansas, 16-5 at Whataburger Field on Monday night. The Naturals finished the six-game road trip 1-5.
Liddi's first home run catalyzed a four-run second inning to push the Naturals ahead. A solo home run off starter, Akeem Bostick (1-2, 3.81) cut the Corpus Christi lead in half at 2-1. Later in the inning, Kort Peterson delivered a two-out run-scoring single to tie the score and Nick Dini drove home Peterson with two-run homer to cap off the four-run frame.
The second homer by Liddi came in the sixth inning with the Naturals trailing, 8-4. The 29-year old veteran slugged an 0-1 pitch off Bostick and sent it deep over the left-centerfield fence to make it an 8-6 contest.
The star of the night played for Corpus Christi. Catcher, Lorenzo Quintana belted three home runs in the game, becoming just the third Hook to complete the feat in franchise history, dating back to 2005. Quintana owned the Naturals in his seven games against Northwest Arkansas this season, blasting seven of his eight season home runs, including three tonight.
The newest member of the Naturals, Dallas Beeler (0-1, 14.73) made his club debut on Monday night and pitched three and two-third innings, allowed seven runs - six earned - on nine hits with three walks to take the loss. Northwest Arkansas (38-48/3-13) needed five relievers to finish the contest.
Bryan Brickhouse shined in the late inning pitching two innings of shutout relief with three strikeouts in his line.
The two-home run performance by Liddi is fourth of its kind this season. He now leads the club with 14 home runs on the season. Dini extended his hitting streak to four games with his two-run homer in the second frame.
The Naturals will enjoy an league-wide off-day on Tuesday, July 10 before kicking-off a four-game homestand against the Tulsa Drillers (Los Angeles Dodgers) on Wednesday, July 11 at Arvest Ballpark. The probables for the series have not yet been announced.
