Myrtle Beach Pelicans News Release

The Chicago Cubs have made the following roster moves that impact the Myrtle Beach Pelicans roster:

LHP Luis Lugo has been activated from the 7-day Injured List

LHP Manuel Rondon has been placed on the 7-day Injured List

Lugo, a 25-year-old native of Venezuela, has pitched out of the bullpen and in the starting rotation this season for the Birds and will start today's game. As a starter, Lugo is 1-1 with a 4.43 ERA while he is 0-0 with a 2.00 ERA as a reliever. Selected in the minor league phase of the Rule 5 Draft in December by the Cubs, Lugo was originally signed by the Indians out of Venezuela and pitched for the Lynchburg Hillcats in 2015 and 2016. After electing free agency following the 2017 season, he signed with the Orioles, was released following Spring Training and later finished out the season with the Royals organization in Double-A Northwest Arkansas of the Texas League.

The Myrtle Beach Pelicans roster now sits at 25 active players with three on the Injured List.
