Inter Miami CF News Release
After only two appearances, it can be said that Inter Miami's Lewis Morgan is enjoying his new life plying his trade in MLS. The 23-year-old Scottish winger has proved to be one of the Club's major threats in attack so far in the team's inaugural season.
Morgan was selected in Inter Miami's starting lineup against both LAFC and D.C. United, totaling 169 minutes of play while registering five shots, three successful dribbles, 35 successful passes, one successful set-play cross, four key passes, one foul won and a very important assist. In fact, a historic assist. Inter Miami's first assist in MLS. Shortly after the first minute of the match against D.C. United, rookie forward Robbie Robinson recovered possession in midfield and kickstarted a counter-attack before handing the ball to Morgan, who then delivered a perfect low-cross into the box so Rodolfo Pizarro could score Inter Miami's first MLS goal.
The winger has stood out not only because of his offensive prowess, as his versatility and work rate make him a very useful tool for the team on the pitch. In his first two games in the league, Morgan has put in some work defensively as well, recording one tackle, nine recoveries, three clearances and two interceptions.
It's also important to note a very unique trait in Morgan's skill set as he's ambidextrous, meaning that he's able to hit the ball with both feet. It is common to find players who control and pass the ball, but it's rare to witness a player who can take set-pieces and whip in crosses comfortably with both feet. Although predominantly right-footed, the Scottish player has showcased his abilities to strike the ball with either of his feet during both matches, for example, impressing viewers by taking corners and set-pieces from both wings.
