St. Paul Saints News Release
ST. PAUL, MN (August 12, 2011) - A week ago the St. Paul Saints added veteran arms to help out an overworked pitching staff. Saints manager George Tsamis has now gone out and acquired a solid bat for his lineup.
The St. Paul Saints have traded infielder Justin Snyder to the Kansas City T-Bones in exchange for outfielder Aharon Eggleston.
In 82 games for Kansas City, Eggleston hit .324 with six home runs and 49 RBI. In 312 at bats he scored 51 runs, had 23 doubles, two triples, and 15 stolen bases in 16 attempts. His .938 stolen base percentage leads the American Association. He had an on base percentage of .401 and a slugging percentage of .468.
Eggleston has spent most of his seven year career in the Northern League. He played with the Edmonton Cracker-Cats from 2005-2006 as well as Kansas City from 2007-2009. At the end of the 2009 season, Eggleston played a few games in the Atlantic League for the York Revolution. The Las Vegas, NV native spent last season with the Winnipeg Goldeyes, before returning to Kansas City for the 2011 campaign.
In his time with the Saints, Snyder hit .232 with two home runs and 20 RBI in 65 games. Snyder was drafted by the New York Yankees in the 21st round of the 2007 MLB amateur draft and spent four seasons with the organization reaching as high as Triple-A.
The Saints also released outfielder Shane Costa, who currently has a leg injury. The Saints also released right-handed pitcher Kris Edwards to make room for pitcher Jake Schmidt, who was activated on Wednesday. Edwards was 1-0 with a 4.15 ERA in 17.1 innings pitched.
The Saints roster now stands at one under league maximum with 21 players, 11 pitchers and 10 position players.
