Leo - "The coach, the roast, the ring"

May 12, 2005 - Canadian Football League (CFL)
Toronto Argonauts News Release

Toronto – Toronto Argonauts' legendary coach and current goodwill ambassador Leo Cahill will finally receive the Grey Cup ring that has eluded him for his entire career. However, the Argos could not give Leo his ring without letting everyone give him a bit of a hard time. Thus, Leo – "The Coach", "The Roast", "The Ring" was born as the Double Blue will host a tribute dinner and roast in Leo Cahill's honour.

One of Leo's favourite TV programs of the 1970s was the "Dean Martin Roast". Now, the tables are being turned on him as he will be roasted (and toasted) on Wednesday, June 15 by some of his closest friends, admirers and life-long enemies.

The Head Table of Roasters will include: "Mr. Ottawa Rough Rider" Pat Marsden, broadcaster and star CFL receiver Leif Pettersen, the voice of "The Fan" Gord Stellick, Argo star "Tricky Dick" Thornton, the Ottawa Sun's Earl McRae and four more big-mouths. Ron Hewat will be the Master of Ceremonies and the dinner will be packed with Argo alumni, led by Bill Symons. Here are the details:
