Ottawa Renegades News Release

OTTAWA – Ottawa Renegades defensive lineman Marc Pilon is getting back to the basics and returning to his roots. A native of the nation's capital, who signed with the team over the off-season, Pilon turned down richer contracts to return to his hometown. Now, along with his brother, Jeff, the next step in the defensive lineman's commitment to the community is taking shape with the 2005 Pilon's All-Pro Contact Football Camp.

The two-day event, for teenage players between the ages of 13-19, will be held this weekend, May 14-15 at the South Nepean Park behind Mother Teresa high school.

"The main reason I am doing this is to give kids in the area a chance that I never had," said Pilon. "We will be teaching fundamentals and making sure the players have good interaction with the coaches and the prop players."

Pilon, who previously lived in Barrhaven and played high school football at St. Pius X high school, has also attracted a number of star CFL players to take part in the different clinics and technical drills involved over the two-day event. The camp consists of Theory and Technical training, where technique is emphasized. The training sessions will comprise of football fundamentals, technique development, discipline, sportsmanship and mutual respect between players and coaches. Scrimmage will take place on the last day.

"Not only will the focus on the camp be on fundamentals and instruction from pro players, but there will also be some focus on staying in school and taking care of academic responsibilities," said Pilon. "And also touching on preparation to play football at the next level."
