Lemurs Win 11th Straight

Fargo, ND - The Laredo Lemurs (51-43) posted four runs in the fourth to take the lead that they handed over to the bullpen for a 6-4 win in the first game against the Fargo Moorhead Redhawks (61-33) on Tuesday night in Fargo, North Dakota.

With the Lemurs down 2-1 they came up to the plate and posted four runs with six straight batters reaching base. Four of them reached with a base hit and two of them reached on walks from the starting pitcher Jake Laber. The Lemurs ended up sending nine batters to the plate in the fourth scoring four runs and taking a 5-2 lead over the Redhawks.

Stephen Pearson had a huge night for the Lemurs going three for four, with a run, and a RBI.

With Leonard Giammanco on the mound the Redhawks opened up the bottom of the sixth with a Ryan Stovall base hit and a stolen base to put him at second. Ryan Delgado walked to put runners at first and second, then Lemurs manager Pete Incaviglia brought in Chaz Roe to pitch. Roe gave up a hit to load the bases to Marcos Rodriguez. Then with one out Roe gave up a base hit to Max Casper who drove in two runs and made a 6-4 game. Roe would slam the door after that, working out of the inning.

Edwin Walker pitched a perfect seventh and eighth for the Lemurs and Mike Benacka came out of the pen in the ninth and walked two batters but earned his 11 save of the year.

Leonard Giammanco (5-4) earns the win for the Lemurs, as he went five, giving up four runs, on four hits, with three walks, and three strikeouts.

Jake Laber (6-7) takes the loss going five and a third, giving up six runs, on eight hits, with five walks, and two strikeouts.

With the win the Lemurs stay two and half games up over the Airhogs in the South division of the American Association. The Lemurs have six regular season games left and are on an 11 game winning streak.

The Laredo Lemurs will wrap up the regular season on the road with a trip to Fargo, North Dakota and Gary, Indian. Keep your eye open for Lemurs playoff information.
