Lexington Legends News Release

The Lexington Legends and Asheville Tourists split two games Saturday in Asheville. The opening game, won by Lexington 11-4, was a completion of a game suspended in the third inning Friday due to rain. Asheville took the seven-inning second game, 3-0.

The Legends had 18 hits in the opening game. Kody Hinze was 4-for-4 with three RBI, and Jiovanni Mier was 4-for-5 with three doubles. J.D. Martinez had three hits, including his sixth home run of the year, and Jonathan Fixler hit his first home of the season for the Legends. Zach Grimmett (1-0), who took over for Friday's starter Jose Cisnero when the game resumed Saturday, picked up the win. Nick Schnaitmann (3-4) was the loser.

In the second game, Asheville starter Alan DeRatt, who went the first five innings, and reliever Sheng-An Kuo combined to limit the Legends to two hits. Asheville scored all three of its runs in the fourth inning. Kent Matthes tripled to lead off the inning and scored on a single by Jared Clark. After Clark was caught stealing, Avery Barnes singled and Orlando Sandoval homered to left field to close out the scoring.

DeRatt (1-0) got the win. Colton Pitkin (1-1), who worked the first four innings for Lexington, took the loss. The Legends took three out of four in the series and seven of eight games against Asheville for the season.

The Legends return home for a four-game series against the Greenville Drive at Applebee's Park. The series opener is set for 2:05 p.m. Sunday.
