FRISCO, TX, (Mar. 5, 2014) - The Texas Legends, presented by Veracruz (visit Veracruz.mx), closed out a tight victory over the Bakersfield Jam 109-106.

The lead changed eight times in the first quarter before the Legends took the advantage they would hold for three more quarters. The Legends went up by 10 at the end of the first behind 8 points from James Nunnally. After halftime, the home team came out firing, shooting 63% to go up by as many as 15 heading into the final minutes. Bakersfield battled back in the opening minutes of the fourth but the Legends once again grabbed a 15-point advantage which seemed to awaken the Jam. A 14-1 run by Bakersfield quickly put the game back on the line, and with just 7.9 seconds to play they came within 1, the closest deficit since the first quarter. Forced to foul, Bakersfield sent Damion James to the line to sink both free throws and seal the fate of the game.

James led the Legends with 24 points, 14 rebounds and 3 assists, while Nunnally added 20 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Ricky Ledo and PJ Hairston added 18 points each. Toronto Bucks' assignee Dwight Buycks came off the bench to lead the Jam with 28 points, but Ike Diogu added the team's only double-double of 13 points and a game-high 22 boards.

Thanks to the generosity of Tour de Profit, the Legends recognized local businesses who give back by celebrating Philanthropy Night. The team wore customized jerseys designed by Tour de Profit and fans were introduced to a number of owners and employees in the North Dallas area who are actively involved with a charity. Tour de Profit sought to recognize these companies both to honor their hard work and to encourage others to seek ways to help. Donations raised from jersey auctions benefited the MainGate Therapeutic Horsemanship Center in McKinney, TX.
