Austin, TX Mar. 6, 2014- The Austin Toros fell to the Bakersfield Jam 111-106 Thursday evening at Cedar Park Center. Austin's Flip Murray recorded his third double-double of the season (29 points, 10 assists) and led all scorers.
Courtney Fells tallied 20 points, six rebounds and five assists. In his Toros debut, Greg Gantt finished with 11 points and four rebounds off the bench.
The Bakersfield Jam had three players finish with 20 plus points including Dennis Horner (24), Terrel Harris (22) and Ike Diogu who had a double-double (27 points, 11 rebounds).
Bakersfield took an early lead in the first quarter, outscoring the Toros 36-22. The Jam's Horner and Harris were both in double-digits by the start of the second quarter. The Jam led the Toros by 15 points at half-time, 62-47. Sharp-shooting from Flip Murray helped the Toros outscore the Jam 27-17 in the third quarter, making it a five point game. Courtney Fells then led a rally with 11 points late in the fourth quarter, but the Toros were only able to narrow the deficit to three.
The Toros (14-24) return to Cedar Park Center Friday evening to take on the Iowa Energy at 7:30 p.m. The Jam (14-22) head to Santa Cruz to play the Warriors on Mar. 8.
