Lexington starter Luis Cruz and relievers Brian Streilein and Jorge DeLeon combined to shut out the Rome Braves on five hits as the Legends won 2-0 Thursday night in Rome.

Both runs came in the fourth inning. Jiovanni Mier led off with a walk and advanced to third as Adam Bailey's ground ball got past second baseman Kyle Davis for an error. Mier scored on a sacrifice fly by Chris Wallace. Mike Kvasnicka followed with a single, moving Bailey to third. Bailey scored as Enrique Hernandez grounded into a force play at second base.

Cruz (1-0), who had been a regular starter for Lexington in 2010 but was making his first start this season, worked the first five and one-third innings. He allowed four hits and no runs, and worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the fifth. Streilein finished the sixth and worked through the seventh and eighth, allowing one hit. DeLeon earned his ninth save with a scoreless ninth.

Rome starter Ronan Pacheco (2-5) was the losing pitcher. The series continues with a 7 p.m. game Friday night at State Mutual Stadium.
