Salisbury, Md. - The Delmarva Shorebirds won two games over the Hagerstown Suns at Municipal Stadium on Thursday night. The Shorebirds walked off with a 6-5 win in game one, which was resumed from the suspended game on June 11, and then shutout Hagerstown in game two 4-0.

The Suns jumped on Jacob Pettit in the second inning as game one resumed. With Randolph Oduber at first, Jason Martinson hit a double to put runners at second and third. Then, Brett Newsome followed with a single to tie the game at 1-1. Cole Leonida hit a sacrifice fly to left field to lift the Suns in front 2-1. The Suns wound up plating two more runs to build a 4-1 lead.

The Shorebirds battled back starting in the fourth inning. Mike Flacco led off with a single and Kieron Pope walked to open the inning. Then, Michael Ohlman singled to right and Bryce Harper threw wide to second, allowing Flacco to turn third and score. Adam Gaylord then hit a sacrifice fly to left field to score pinch runner Mikey Planeta, who entered for Pope who was injured on the throw from Harper.

Down 4-3, the Shorebirds took the lead in the eighth inning. Flacco was hit by a pitch and Michael Ohlman reached on an error by Jason Martinson. With two outs, Gaylord and Leonora connected on back-to-back RBI singles to give the Shorebirds a 5-4 lead.

The Suns tied the game in the ninth inning on a wild pitch by Aaron Swenson that scored Newsome. With runners at first and second, Swenson fanned Harper to send the game to the bottom of the ninth.

Michael Rooney set the table in the bottom of the ninth inning with a double through the alley in left-center field. After Manny Machado was walked intentionally, Flacco hit a double to the left-center field wall to plate Rooney and lift the Shorebirds to a 6-5 win.

Jacob Pettit tossed seven innings and scattered just six hits and one earned run. He also fanned four and did not issue a walk. Aaron Swenson picked up his second win of the season.

The Shorebirds were first on the board in game two. Ty Kelly hit a leadoff single up the middle. With two outs and Kelly at third, Hagerstown third baseman Sean Nicol mishandled a grounder to allow Kelly to score.

In the fourth inning, Riley Hornback delivered a two-run single to give the Shorebirds a 3-0 lead. In the seventh, Flacco hit a sacrifice fly RBI to plate Brenden Webb, who hit a leadoff triple down the right field line.

Cameron Roth earned the win in five shutout innings. He scattered five hits and struck out two batters. Randy Henry picked up the save in two scoreless innings.

The Shorebirds and Suns play game three of the series on Friday night at 7:05 p.m.
