Legends Earn Important Road Win In Maine

Texas Legends News Release

Portland, ME (March 18, 2011) - The Texas Legends used a complete team performance on Friday night to dismantle the Maine Red Claws 114-95 at the Portland Expo Building.

The win moved Texas within just a half-game of the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, who currently hold the eighth and final playoff spot with only six games remaining on the Legends schedule.

Maine was able to keep the game close throughout much of the first half, although with the game tied at 44 in the second quarter, Texas used a 9-0 run to begin to pull away. The Legends went into the break on top 61-53.

The Red Claws would pull within three points of the Legends early in the second half, but that would be as close as Maine would get. Texas stretched their lead to double-digits midway through the third quarter and maintained the double-figure lead throughout the rest of the game.

The Legends were nearly perfect from the charity stripe, nailing 26 of their 27 free throws as a team, including a 10-for-10 performance by Chris Roberts.

The 19-point win was Texas' third largest margin of victory this season and largest since a 30-point win over the Springfield Armor on January 7.

Dominique Johnson led six double-digit scorers for Texas with 23 points in the win, while Sean Williams collected his 17th double-double of the season with 21 points and 10 rebounds.

DeShawn Sims dropped in a team-high 18 points for the Red Claws.

The win improved the Legends to 20-24 on the season, while the Red Claws fell to 15-28.

Texas will try for the series sweep of Maine on Sunday afternoon in Portland. The matinee tip-off is set for 12:00 PM.

Great tickets for all Legends home games are still available by calling (214) 469-0822 or emailing the team at info@TexLegends.com.
