PORTLAND, ME - The Texas Legends (20-24) kept their playoff hopes alive, moving a half game behind the Fort Wayne Mad Ants for the 8th and final playoff spot with a 114-95 win at Maine tonight. The loss set back the Maine Red Claws' (15-28) hopes at a late run for the postseason. Maine is currently five wins out of the final slot with just 7 games remaining.

The two teams remained close early in the game, with the Legends opening up a 4-point lead at the end of the first quarter and widening their lead to 8 by the half. Texas took control in the second half, capitalizing on 22 Red Claws turnovers on the night and shooting 26 for 27 from the line (96.3%) to close the door on any late Maine run.

Maine Red Claws rookie DeShawn Sims, who entered the night 1st in rookie scoring and 5th overall, continued to make his bid for Rookie of the Year, picking up 18 points for his 35th game in double figures. Magnum Rolle put forth his most impressive effort since returning from a knee injury earning adidas Player of the Game honors for his 17 points while guard Jamar Smith added 13 to round out the Red Claws' leading scorers..

Texas center Sean Williams picked up a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds, while guard Dominique Johnson led all scorers with 23 points. Forward Joe Alexander made his presence known, contributing 17 points in the winning effort.

The Red Claws and Legends are both idle tomorrow, spending the day in Portland before squaring off again on Sunday at 1 PM during "The Red Claws Go Country Night." Maine will then head west for a pair at Utah Tuesday and Thursday before closing out the week at Bakersfield with a weekend set. Texas will travel to Tulsa to take on the 66ers on Friday.
