Legends Defeat Toros in Overtime Thriller

Frisco, TX MAR. 01, 2012 - The Texas Legends experienced an extra period for the first time this season, defeating the Austin Toros 99-94 at Dr Pepper Arena in Frisco.

Legends guard Booker Woodfox hit his second clutch three of the night with 40.9 seconds left to go in extras to give the Legends the lead for good. Woodfox iced the game by sinking free-throws, hitting all eight of his attempts from the charity stripe in route to 20 points on the night.

Antonio Daniels provided 11 assists for the Legends, his fourth game in a row of double-digit dimes, but offensively he carried Texas, shooting an efficient seven of 11 from the field for a game high 21 points.

With 16.3 seconds left in the fourth quarter Daniels drove to the basket and drew the foul for a pair of free throws that tied the game at 88 a piece in regulation. On the ensuing possession Sean Williams swatted Justin Dentmon's game winning lay-up attempt. Williams rejected seven shots while grabbing seven rebounds and collecting eight points.

The Toros had five players score in double-figures including Eric Dawson and Leo Lyons who registered double-doubles. Dawson led Austin in scoring with 18 points off the bench along with 12 rebounds. Lyons produced a similar line with 17 points and 12 rebounds to his credit.

Both teams shot poorly from the field at 40.2%. Austin won the rebounding battle by a hair, 53-52.

Texas (18-18) takes the first victory in a three game series with Austin (22-13). The Legends lace it up again on Saturday, March 3rd, on HP Court at Dr Pepper Arena in Frisco at 7:00PM as they look to win their sixth straight and go above .500 for the first time this season.
