(LAKEWOOD, N.J.) Bryan Brickhouse took a no-hitter into the sixth inning, and the Lexington Legends ran their winning streak to six games with a 2-0 win over the Lakewood BlueClaws Monday night.
Brickhouse gave up a leadoff double to Josh Ludy in the bottom of the sixth, and eventually left the game with two outs in the seventh. He struck out nine batters and walked two, and allowed two hits in gaining his first victory of the season after three losses. Brickhouse lowered his season earned run average to 2.41
Alec Mills pitched the final two and one-third innings and picked up his fourth save. He allowed one hit.
The Legends scored their first run in the fourth inning on singles by Humberto Arteaga and Bubba Starling, a wild pitch and a ground out by Jin-Ho Shin.
Lakewood had its best chance in the seventh. With two outs, Mitch Walding singled. He was later caught off first base, but advanced to second when shortstop Raul Mondesi dropped a throw from first baseman Fred Ford. After Larry Greene walked, Brickhouse was relieved by Mills, who got Carlos Tocci to ground into a force play, ending the inning.
The Legends added their final run in the top of the ninth on a two-out triple by Ford and a single by Nic Cuckovich.
Lakewood starter Yoel Mecias (0-2), who worked the first four innings, took the loss.
The Legends have won the first three games of the series, which concludes Tuesday night. Game time is 6:35 p.m.
