November 13, 2014 - NBA G League (G League)
Texas Legends News Release
FRISCO, TX, (Nov. 13, 2014) - The Texas Legends have announced a partnership with Raytheon designed to benefit the Legends fan base and the Military Child Education Coalition (MCEC). The multi-faceted partnership aims to promote STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) education for the youth of North Texas.
Raytheon is committed to inspiring the next generation of engineers and empowering military veterans and their families through education. This sponsorship incorporates MCEC, a Texas-based organization with global services that ensures quality educational opportunities for all military and veteran-connected children. MCEC works with teachers, parents and students of families affected by mobility, separation and transition. Raytheon will feature MCEC on Legends charity jersey night and throughout the season. Partnering with the Legends and the Texas Legends Care Foundation, Raytheon hopes to increase awareness and support for MCEC.
"Raytheon is proud to partner with MCEC and the Texas Legends, two organizations that share our commitment to support and empower military families and youth through educational opportunities," said Trudy Sullivan, Raytheon Vice President of Communications and Public Affairs.
Through MathMovesU, Raytheon has touched thousands of middle and high school students to spark a passion for STEM. The company also sponsors an interactive exhibition called MathAlive for museums around the world, which is currently open at the Perot. Raytheon also teams with professional sports organizations to offer its science of sports initiative designed to develop mentoring and tutorial programs.
As part of the Legends partnership, Raytheon will host a new STEM initiative called Innovation Row at all Legends home games. Further details of the STEM program will be released at a later date. Finally, Raytheon will be the presenting partner of the Legends preseason "Fan Jam," an opportunity for fans to come watch the team scrimmage, receive autographs and meet the players before the first home game.
"We're very excited about the partnership with Raytheon. Their emphasis on community outreach has built a unique corporate culture very similar to ours here at the Legends," stated Legends Owner Donnie Nelson. "This is a new type of partnership that will benefit our entire community."
The Legends will open their home schedule against the Santa Cruz Warriors on Friday, Nov. 21st at 7pm at Dr. Pepper Arena. For more information on Raytheon and their educational efforts visit www.raytheon.com. For the Legends full schedule or to purchase tickets visit www.TexLegends.com.
