Texas Legends News Release
FRISCO, TX, (Nov. 19, 2014) - The Texas Legends have announced an innovative new partnership with Raytheon to present a new season-long education initiative at all home games. Fans will still enter each home game through the same entrance, but will experience an entirely new atmosphere once inside the concourse.
Previously Legends fans strolled through a concourse surrounded by booths, sponsors and various games for the kids. Fans will enjoy similar elements as well as interactive opportunities that have been enhanced to include an educational component. The Raytheon "Innovation Row" will take fans through a basketball-oriented STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) program. Kids will be given "passports" upon entering the arena and will be challenged to complete the activities throughout the walkway. Participants will learn about the physics of basketball and challenge their skills amidst measurement games and hands-on activities.
The Legends have also released a new logo to represent Innovation Row and Raytheon designed by interns within the organization. Hannah Sears and Jolie Guz, two Seniors at Wakeland High School in Frisco, TX, worked with Legends and Raytheon staff members to create a logo that embodied the spirit behind the partnership.
"We were inspired by the fun atmosphere of the Texas Legends games to create a logo that will inspire kids to have fun and be innovative!" commented Guz and Sears. "The design combines the motion of the basketball and the gears to encourage kids to get moving both on and off the basketball court. We enjoyed working with the Legends and Raytheon and are looking forward to the upcoming season!"
Innovation Row will open at the Legends first home game against the Santa Cruz Warriors on Friday, Nov. 21st at 7pm. For tickets or information visit www.TexLegends.com.
