Legends Acquire Matthew Mayer

FRISCO, TX - The Texas Legends have acquired forward Matthew Mayer in a trade with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. In exchange, Texas sends RGV's own 2nd round pick in the 2024 NBA G League Draft, previously acquired via trade.

Mayer (6-9, 225, Illinois) has played 29 games with the Vipers this season averaging 4.3 points, 1.6 rebounds. After playing 4 years at Baylor and winning an NCAA Championship, Mayer transferred to Illinois for his final season, earning All-Big Ten Third Team honors. The Austin, Texas native joined the Houston Rockets for 2023 NBA Summer League seeing action in 4 games and averaging 12.5 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 1.0 assist in 25.2 minutes per game. Mayer joined the Rockets for one preseason game and was allocated to the Vipers as an affiliate player.
