Spokane Indians News Release
SPOKANE, WA - Shortstop Charles Leblanc enjoyed a career night at the plate, reaching base four times including a double, but it went for naught as errors doomed the Indians in their 8-1 loss to the Vancouver Canadians. A crowd of 5,212 fans enjoyed a sun-soaked afternoon at Avista Stadium for Father's Day Game and Prostate Cancer Awareness presented by Inland Imaging, Rock 94 1/2, 700 ESPN, and Family Guide.
A fourth-round pick out of the University of Pittsburgh, Leblanc was hitless coming into the game but broke out of his slump with a pair of singles, a double, and a walk to raise his average to .273. Despite a team total of 11 hits, the Indians managed just one run as they went 1-8 with runners in scoring position and left 13 runners on base.
Spokane starter Nick Green (0-1) turned in solid performance, striking out six in four innings while allowing just two unearned runs. Johan Juan and Mark Vasquez both contributed scoreless innings of relief, with the latter striking out the side around a walk.
Second baseman Blaine Prescott picked up two base knocks to extend his hitting streak to three games while Chad Smith, Clay Middleton, Stephen Lohr, Alex Kowalczyk, Todd McDonald, and Darius Day each notched a hit in the loss.
The Indians head out on an eight-game road trip starting in the Tri-Cities tomorrow before returning to Spokane on Tuesday, June 28 for Smokey Bear Night presented by Nick's Handmade Boots, Spokane's Greatest Hits Key 101, and Magic 790. Join the Spokane Indians as Smokey Bear and the Wildland Fire Agencies will be on hand to provide fire-prevention education, Smokey Bear trivia, and fun prizes. The game starts at 6:30 PM with gates opening 5:30 PM. Tickets for all Spokane Indians home games are available for purchase at the Avista Stadium Ticket Office or at spokaneindians.com.
