Tri-City Dust Devils News Release
In front of a sellout crowd of 3,757 fans at Gesa Stadium the Tri-City Dust Devils (1-1) lost to the Everett AquaSox (1-1) on Saturday night 2-1 in ten innings. Everett's Gus Craig hit a home run off of Jose Castillo in the tenth inning to score the game's only run.
Both teams received excellent performances from their pitching staffs. Tri-City starter Angel Mejia was magnificent in his five innings of work. Mejia did not give up a hit through his first four innings on the mound and did not allow a runner beyond first base.
Dalton Erb and Jesse Scholtens picked up where Mejia left off. The recent draft picks made their professional debuts for the Dust Devils and each tossed two scoreless frames in relief. Returner Jose Castillo (0-1) suffered the loss in his first relief appearance with the team.
At the plate the Dust Devils had six hits and were able to draw three walks, but were unable to score a run.
The three-game series will conclude on Sunday night between the Dust Devils and AquaSox. Tri-City will start left-handed pitcher Will Headean in the deciding game of the series. Everett will send Brandon Miller to the mound. It will be Father's Appreciation Night at Gesa Stadium. Great seats are available by calling the Dust Devils' office at (509) 544-8789 or by going to www.dustdevilsbaseball.com to purchase tickets.
