Leblanc, Teglia Honored with League Awards

COUNCIL BLUFFS, IA - The Omaha Lancers of the United States Hockey League (USHL) are pleased to announce that Louis Leblanc and Jeff Teglia were among six players recognized by the USHL's year-end awards. Leblanc was named Rookie of the Year while Teglia received the league's Scholar-Athlete Award.

During his rookie campaign, Leblanc led all Lancers in scoring with 59 points and ended the regular season tied with Jake Hauswirth for the team lead in goals with 28. The Kirkland, Quebec native finished the regular season tied for 10th among all USHL skaters in points and was tied for 8th in goals. Leblanc registered a hat trick in just his fifth career USHL game and then tallied back-to-back three-goal games on February 28th and March 6th. All tolled, Leblanc recorded five multi-goal games this year while notching 14 multi-point contests. Omaha's leading scorer also paced the club in power play goals (9), shorthanded goals (4) and game-winning goals (6). Leblanc was also named as one of four forwards on the USHL All-Rookie Team. Projected as a first round selection in the upcoming 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Leblanc is already committed to Harvard University.

Also a USHL first-timer, Teglia has been recognized with the league's Scholar-Athlete Award. As Omaha's workhorse between the pipes, Teglia appeared in 41 games this season recording nearly 2200 minutes of crease duty. The Bloomingdale, Illinois native finished the season tied for sixth among all USHL netminders with 20 wins while posting a 3.00 goals-against average and a .892 save percentage. Off the ice, Teglia is currently carrying a 3.5 grade point average while taking advanced pre-professional courses in law, finance and calculus. Omaha's rookie goaltender has also been an active volunteer within the Omaha community participating in events that have benefited the Alzheimer's Association, Special Olympics and Omaha youth hockey.

The Omaha Lancers begin their opening round of the 2009 Clark Cup Playoffs this Friday, April 10th, when they welcome the Fargo Force to the Mid-America Center. Games 1 & 2 of the best-of-five series will be played at the MAC this Friday and Saturday before the series shifts to Fargo for Game 3 Sunday evening.
