
Stampede Playoffs Begin Friday in Lincoln

The Sioux Falls Stampede open the 2009 Clark Cup Playoffs in Lincoln this weekend. The Stampede finished the regular season last week with a 4-2 win over Lincoln on Friday and a 5-2 victory over Tri-City on Saturday. The Herd finished the year in fourth place in the West Division with a 28-28-4 record.
Lincoln hosts the Stampede for Games 1 and 2 on Friday and Saturday at the Ice Box at 7:05 PM. The Stampede will host Lincoln for Game 3 on Tuesday, April 14th and, if necessary, for Game 4 on Friday, April 17th. Should their be a Game 5, it will take place on Saturday, April 18th in Lincoln.
This marks the third straight season the Stampede have faced the Stars in the first round of the playoffs and the fourth straight season they have met in the postseason. The Stampede hold a 7-4 record over the last three years against the Stars in postseason play. Lincoln won the regular season series between the two teams this year with a 4-3-0 record.
EDDY NAMED TO USHL
ALL-ROOKIE TEAM
The United States Hockey League announced Sunday that Stampede forward David Eddy has been named to the Center Trophy USHL All-Rookie Team.
The Woodbury, MN native finished the regular season second in team scoring with 56 points in 60 games. He led the team in assists with 35 and was third in goals scored with 21.
Eddy was a third round selection of the Stampede in the 2008 USHL Draft after posting 64 points in 29 games with Woodbury High School last year.
ESPN'S BARRY MELROSE TO APPEAR ON INSIDE STAMPEDE HOCKEY TODAY-
ESPN hockey host Barry Melrose will appear on Inside Stampede Hockey today on Sports Radio 1230-AM to talk about the upcoming NCAA Frozen Four and NHL playoffs. Inside Stampede Hockey airs Monday's on 1230-AM KWSN from 5-6 PM and on www.kwsn.com
Melrose is a former NHL defenseman and head coach of the L.A. Kings and Tampa Bay Lightning. He coached Wayne Gretzky and the Kings to the Stanley Cup Finals in 1993. Melrose can currently be seen on a weekly basis on ESPN "Sports Center" breaking down the National Hockey League. He also worked with ESPN for the NCAA Ice Hockey Tournament this season.
STAMPEDE ANNOUNCE JAKOB L. BEIER SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS
The Sioux Falls Stampede have announced the winners of the 5th annual Jakob L. Beier Scholarship. The winners are Tim Rotert of Huron and Breann Julius of Brookings. This award annually provides a $500 scholarship each to one female and one male "senior" playing high school hockey in South Dakota.

Buffalo Wild Wings of Sioux Falls is hosting B2 Networks viewing parties of all road Stampede playoff games. Catch all the exciting action from the Ice Box this Friday and Saturday for Games 1 and 2 at Buffalo Wild Wings starting at 7 PM.
