Old Hat: Only one point in the final regular season standings separated the two seed Cedar Rapids RoughRiders (38-17-5, 81 pts) and three seed Indiana Ice (39-19-2, 80 pts) and the two clubs were a smidge back from one seed Green Bay (39-17-4, 82 pts) in one of the tightest divisional battles in USHL history. The two squads have met on nine playoff occasions with the Ice sporting a 3-6 record against the RoughRiders. Cedar Rapids eliminated Indiana from playoff contention in 2004-05 and 2005-06 and the Ice returned the favor in 2006-07. The division rivals did not meet in the postseason last year.
Regular Season Engagements: The Ice was 3-4-0 against Cedar Rapids in the regular season (2-2-0 in Cedar Rapids) and was led in scoring by Ben Albertson (2G, 2A), Mike Cichy (2G, 2A), Shane Berschbach (G, 3A), Loren Barron (4A) and Max Cook (4A), while Brent Gwidt chipped in with three goals. Brett Bennett was the goaltender of note with a 3-4-0 record, 2.79 GAA and a .917 SV%. The all-star duo of forward Mike Seidel and defenseman Matt Donovan produced 15 points (4G, 11A) for the RoughRiders, while Mike Johnson was the better of the two netminders with a 3-1-0 record, 1.96 GAA and a .930 SV%.
Playoff Histories: The Ice has made the playoffs in all five years of existence and is 9-10 all-time in postseason action, highlighted by an impressive 6-1 run in the 2007 Clark Cup Playoffs. Cedar Rapids have never missed the playoffs in their nine seasons of USHL hockey and have a 2005 Clark Cup Championship on their mantle.

REGULAR SEASON ACCOLADES: Mike Cichy was first in the USHL in power play goals (17) and multiple goal games (7), tied for first in goals (34) and was second in points (76)...Stanislav Galiev (64 pts) and Brandon Richardson (63 pts) finished 7th and 8th in the league in scoring....Galiev was also first in the league in game-winning goals (7)....Brett Bennett led all USHL goaltenders in games (54), wins (35) and shutouts (4)....Torey Krug led all league defensemen in assists (37) and was second overall in points (47)....Sebastian Geoffrion led the league in penalty minutes (182).
FOR THE RECORD BOOKS: With 39 wins, Indiana tied the franchise best mark for victories in a season set originally last year....The Ice equalled their all-time single season bests for winning streak (7) and home winning streak (11) and set the new record for road winning streak (6)....Brett Bennett became the new standard for Ice goaltending as he set the yearly records for games (54), wins (35), GAA (2.59) and shutouts (4)....Mike Cichy set the Indiana single season record for points (76) and tied the record set last year for goals (34)...Torey Krug's 37 assists were an all-time single season best for an Ice defenseman...Brent Gwidt's 171 regular season games is an Ice all-time best....Sebastian Geoffrion set the Indy single season penalty minute record (182)
