Lawrence Scores Lone Sea Dogs Goal in Loss to Rimouski

The Saint John Sea Dogs (19-13-0-3) fell to the Rimouski Oceanic (17-12-2-2) in the final game of their Quebec road trip on Friday night. Despite a dominant second period, outshooting the Oceanic 15-4, the Sea Dogs were only able to beat netminder Gabriel Robert once. The Sea Dogs lone goal of the match came from Josh Lawrence, throwing the puck on net through traffic off his backhand.

Nikolas Hurtubise started in net for Saint John, making 25 saves on 30 shots. Gabriel Robert was in net for Rimouski and earned himself the first star of the game, stopping 32 of the 33 Sea Dogs' shots.

The Oceanic struck quickly, scoring 39 seconds into the game, and taking the lead.

At 18:52, William Dufour was sent off for cross-checking and the Oceanic were able to capitalize on their power play, scoring their second of the night and taking a 2-0 lead into the second period.

Shots after the first were 15-7 for Rimouski.

Saint John came into the second frame with more energy, dominating the play and outshooting the Oceanic 15-4 in the period.

This increased pressure led to the Sea Dogs' first goal of the night, a backhand shot from Josh Lawrence through a crowded net midway through the period.

With 4:31 remaining, the Oceanic scored again, Luka Verreault scoring his 13th of the season and giving Rimouski a 3-1 lead going into the final period.

Shots after the second were 22-19 for Saint John.

The Oceanic scored three straight including an empty net goal to finish the game off and secure their 6-1 win over Saint John.

Final shots were 33-31 for Saint John.
