Moncton Wildcats News Release
Vincent Filion made 35 saves in front of a hometown crowd in the Wildcats' 4-1 loss to the Shawinigan Cataractes, Thursday at Centre Gervais Auto. Maxim Barbashev had the lone goal for Moncton.
Shawinigan opened the scoring with under six minutes left in the first period.
Barbashev's power play goal tied the game six minutes into the second. Yoan Loshing rifled a low shot from the top of the right circle that was stopped by Cataractes goalie Charles-Antoine Lavallée, but Barbashev potted the rebound.
The home side regained the lead with seven minutes left in the middle period and added two power play goals in the third.
Filion, a Shawinigan native, was named third star, much to the delight of friends and family in attendance.
