Nine Lives: The Tulsa Oilers play four games this week, highlighted by a jersey retirement ceremony. The Oilers host Rio Grande Valley in the Killer Bees' only visit to the BOK Center this season, Tuesday at 7:05 p.m.; Tulsa hosts Bossier-Shreveport Thursday at 7:05 p.m.; Oklahoma City Friday at 7:35 p.m.; and visit the Odessa Jackalopes Saturday at 7:05 p.m. On Friday, the Oilers will retire jersey number nine in honor of Doug Lawrence, the Oilers' all time leader in points and penalty minutes, and the CHL all time assist leader.
On The Board: The Oilers split their two games last week, losing 5-4 to Bossier-Shreveport on Friday and then beating Mississippi 3-2 in a shootout.
A Few Firsts: Friday's win for the Oilers was their first under head coach tony Martino. It was also the first win for Tulsa in overtime/shootout and the first loss for Mississippi in an overtime or shootout.
Double Up: Two Oiler players had two goal games last week. Brendon Hodge scored two goals (and one assist) against Bossier-Shreveport, while Sean Collins scored twice (counting the shootout game winning goal) in the win against Mississippi.
Close Calls: Four of the five games the Oilers have played under Tony Martino have been decided by one goal. One game has been decided in overtime and one in a shootout.
