SIOUX FALLS, SD (August 6, 2007) - For the second time this season, the Sioux Falls Canaries are sending Trevor Lawhorn off to affiliated baseball. The Birds second baseman, who was named the American Association Batter of the Week today, has been signed by the Washington Nationals organization.

On his way out of Sioux Falls, Lawhorn was named the American Association Batter of the Week by PA-Sportsticker, the league's official statistician. For the week of July 30 thru August 5, Lawhorn hit .536 (15-for-28) with three doubles, three homers, and 10 RBI.

"Trevor has been great for us every time I've had the chance to put his name in the line-up," said Canaries Manager Steve Shirley. "As, I said the first time he got released, players come to the American Association with the hopes of getting to affiliated baseball, and Trevor has once again shown he is deserving of that opportunity."

On May 24, Lawhorn was signed by the Seattle Mariners organization. Trevor hit .252 with three homers and 20 RBI in 29 games with the Midwest League's Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. In 30 games with the Canaries this season, Lawhorn hit .305 with eight homers and 24 RBI.
