
Late Threes from Days, Lecque Leads Vipers to Victory over 905

Raptors 905 (5-11), the NBA G League affiliate of the Toronto Raptors fell to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers (12-3) 103-105 Saturday afternoon. The 905 were led by Kobi Simmons who put up a game-high 21 points, three rebounds, six assists, a steal, and a block in the matchup. Ray Spalding led the Vipers with a 20-point, 12-rebound performance, adding two assists, two steals, and six blocks in the victory.
In their lone meeting of the 2023/24 season, the two teams started off the ball game trading baskets back-and-forth before the 905 came away with a one-point lead after the opening 12 minutes. The 905 kept control of the ball game through the second quarter, leading by as many as 10 points before a shot from behind the arc at the hands of Trhae Mitchell brought the Vipers deficit to three as the first half ended.
The two teams came out of the break going point for point before a buzzer-beating three gave the Vipers the advantage in the quarter (25-22), bringing the score to 78 points apiece entering the final frame. The 905 regained their lead early in the fourth quarter, holding onto it for the majority of the frame. The Vipers gained their first lead of the game since the first quarter behind a dunk from Jalen Lecque and a three from Darius Days but a pair of free throws from Simmons and three from Kira Lewis Jr. allowed the 905 to tie the game up with 24 seconds remaining. The 905 attempted to seal the game however a three from Lecque gave the Vipers the victory in Mississauga.
Mouhamadou Gueye secured his ninth double-double of the season with 10 points, 10 rebounds, and three blocks while Lecque added 18 points, four rebounds seven assists, and a steal for the Vipers.
The 905 return to Long Island to face the Nets, Monday tip-off slated for 7:00 p.m. The Vipers continue their road trip with a two-game series against the Capital City Go-Go beginning Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
