
Birmingham Drops Saturday Night Showdown with Motor City 121-116

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Malcolm Hill dropped 25 and E.J. Liddell scored 23, but the Birmingham Squadron, NBA G League affiliate of the New Orleans Pelicans, fell at home to the Motor City Cruise, 121-116, Saturday night at Legacy Arena at the BJCC.
Hill led the Squadron in the scoring column, as well in rebounding with seven boards on the night. Liddell registered six rebounds and five blocks before fouling out.
Devin Cannady scored 17 off the bench for Birmingham (7-9) on 5-of-7 shooting from three.
Zavier Simpson led all scorers with 30, while Stanley Umude recorded the game's only double-double with 26 points and 10 rebounds. Jayce Johnson hauled in 14 boards and was the game's highest rebounder.
With the win, Motor City (8-7) moves to 1-0 all-time against Birmingham.
The Squadron and Cruise are set for a rematch in tomorrow's second game of a back-to-back with tip-off set for 4 p.m. at Legacy Arena at the BJCC. The contest can be seen locally on My68 or nationally on NBAGLeague.com.
