Milwaukee Milkmen News Release
FRANKLIN, Wis. - The Milwaukee Milkmen won their sixth straight series by winning game three against the Sioux Falls Canaries Thursday night.
Final Score: Milwaukee Milkmen 4, Sioux Falls Canaries 1.
The Milkmen got off to a quick start when Cam Balego tripled in the first inning and then was driven home on a groundout from Gabriel Cancel.
Neither team would score until the seventh inning. Milwaukee's defense was powered by Christian Young who went six innings and allowed just three hits and no runs while striking out nine batters for the third time this season.
Then with the Milkmen still clinging to a 1-0 lead and two outs in the bottom of the seventh, Bryan Torres got on via an error and Balego followed suit after getting hit by a pitch. Cancel then smashed a ball off the Terrapin Terrace wall for a base-clearing triple. And on the very next pitch, Miguel Gomez collected a hit, and with two swings of the bat Milwaukee increased the lead to four.
"We always tell our guys 'put balls in play and anything can happen," Milkmen manager Anthony Barone said of the inning. "It was a tough night out there with the wind and sky so it was just one of those things where something went our way and we took advantage of it."
The insurance runs proved to be key as Milwaukee gave up one run in the eighth inning, but Nate Hadley came in to pitch in the ninth and closed the game to earn his eleventh save of the year.
Now with another series win under their belt the Milkmen will turn right around and face the Kane County Cougars in a three-game series that starts tomorrow at 6:35 p.m. Tomorrow's game at Franklin Field is also fireworks night! Come cheer on the Milkmen and watch a firework show after the game. We hope to see you soon!
Tickets are on sale atMilwaukeeMilkmen.comor at the Franklin Field Box Office prior to the game.
