Frisco RoughRiders News Release
A Steve Murphy home run and two-run single by Elvis Andrus in the eighth inning leads Frisco past San Antonio 3-2.
Despite only four hits by the Frisco offense, the RoughRiders were able to rally with three runs in the eighth inning to beat the Missions 3-2. Neftali Feliz started for Frisco, but went just 3.1 innings, striking out four and not allowing a run. Steve Murphy hit one of the longest homers at Dr Pepper Ballpark to tie him with Max Ramirez and Ben Harrison for the team lead with 17.
San Antonio and Frisco were scoreless through five innings before the Missions drew a bases loaded walk to go up 1-0. They added another run in the top of the eighth on a solo homer by Chad Huffman to lead Frisco 2-0, heading into the bottom of the eighth.
Murphy led off the eighth with a solo homer to cut the San Antonio lead in half and eliminate the shutout. With Adam Fox and JT Restko on second and third, Elvis Andrus hit a two-out, two-run single to put Frisco up 3-2.
Julio Borbon and Restko had the other two hits for the Frisco offense, along with Murphy and Andrus. Andrew Laughter (2-0) earned the victory going two innings, allowing just one run. Jon Ellis (9-5) blew the save and took the loss, giving up the winning run in the eighth frame.
Frisco will now welcome Midland for the next three games, beginning Tuesday night. RHP Jared Hyatt (1-1, 4.15) will face Midland's James Simmons (5-6, 3.57) at Dr Pepper Ballpark at 7 p.m.
