Round Rock Express News Release

The Round Rock Express tried to "gut" out a win late against the Midland RockHounds Thursday night. They just came up one run short, though.

The Express scored three late runs to nearly overcome a four run deficit in a 5-4 loss to the RockHounds in front of 5,055 at the First America Bank Ballpark.

A four run third, highlighted by a three-run home run by Dan Johnson, put Round Rock in the hole. Through the middle innings, it appeared that the game would end quietly.

However, the Express came to life late. A run in the eighth closed the gap to 5-2 and Round Rock got to Midland closer Chris Mabeus for a pair of runs, but game up one hit short of tying the game.

Chris Tremie drove in a pair of runs with a double and a sacrifice fly. Gavin Wright and Jacques Landry also had RBI hits.

Joe Blanton (2-0) was the winner after holding the Express to one run in seven innings. Greg Miller (3-4) was tagged with the loss.

The fifth in a six game series will be Friday at 7 p.m.
